POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting an Journeyman Pipefitter to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  The Journeyman Pipefitter plays a vital role in mounting majors and assembling small-bore and large-bore piping systems according to drawings on various skidded packages. Reporting to the Assembly Supervisor, work is completed by reading and interpreting P&IDs, GA’s and Piping Specifications. Additionally, they may mentor apprentices for skill development. Shift Schedule - 5:50am-4:20pm (4 days/week,10 hours/day). Overtime is as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyperson pipefitting ticket preferred.
  • 4 years previous experience working in a fabrication or manufacturing environment.
  • A team player with good organizational skills
  • Fall Arrest and AWP certificate would be considered an asset
  • Ability to work independently, efficiently, and safely in a fast-paced shop environment
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral
  • Successful completion of a Pre-employment functional
  • Successful completion of a Pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Candidates are required to supply their own standards tools. Specialty tools will be provided by Startec.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

 DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Read and interpret company and customer supplied drawings and specifications to ensure quality work performed
  • Installation and placement of major equipment
  • Installation and supporting of spooling
  • Skid layout for small bore piping
  • Fitting of the socket and screwed small bore pipe
  • Read, interpret, and red-line construction drawings and blueprints (isometrics, P&IDs, G.As)
  • Pneumatic testing of spools
  • Be an active participant in the company's safety program
