POSITION OVERVIEW:

Startec Compression & Process is currently recruiting a B-Pressure Welder to work at our Shepard Shop (9423 Shepard Rd SE, Calgary, AB, T2C 4R6).  The ideal candidate will have experience in the fabrication and welding of pressure vessels and be willing and able to perform socket welds as required. This position demands a high level of expertise in welding processes and a commitment to maintaining a safe and organized work environment. Shift Details: 5:50 a.m. -4:20 p.m.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Journeyman trades certificate (preferably welding or pipe fitting)
  • 2+ years of experience in pressure welding/fitting is preferred
  • B-Pressure Certificate
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing environment is considered an asset
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment functional, alcohol, and drug

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):

Welding

  • Perform B-pressure welding tasks, including socket welds, in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, layouts, and technical drawings to ensure precise fabrication and welding of pressure vessels.
  • Utilize welding processes including SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW for various welding tasks.
  • Ensure all welds meet quality and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve welding-related issues to ensure seamless production.
  • Continuously improve welding techniques and processes to increase productivity and quality.

Safety

  • Maintain a safe work environment
  • Rig materials and equipment, utilizing overhead and jib cranes safely and effectively.
  • Participate in safety and company programs to promote a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Collaborate with the team to ensure efficient assembly operations and quality control
  • Engage in project reviews with engineering and drafting teams to align on technical specifications and timelines
