Manager/Supervisor
ABOUT US:
POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Supervisor plays a critical role in driving production performance, quality outcomes, and team development, while ensuring alignment with project schedules and operational objectives
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Journeyperson Certificate in Instrumentation or a related field
- Proven leadership experience supervising instrumentation teams
- 8+ years of instrumentation experience in fabrication/production environments (Process or Compression packages preferred)
- Strong working knowledge of:
- Tube bending and installation (including 1” SS tubing, ORFS assemblies, electric benders)
- P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics, and G.A’s
- Instrumentation installation, calibration, and troubleshooting
- Proven leadership experience supervising instrumentation teams
- Working knowledge of Alberta OHS Act, Regulations, and Code
- Strong troubleshooting, problem solving, and decision making abilities
- Effective communication and team leadership skills
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPI):
Operations Oversight
- Oversee all instrumentation activities including installation, calibration, tubing fabrication, and support installation
- Ensure proper execution of:
- Tube bending and routing
- Instrument installation and calibration
- Skid layout per P&IDs, G.A’s, and customer specifications
- Ensure all work meets engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards
Testing & Commissioning
- Ensure proper function and calibration of instruments such as flow meters, pressure gauges, transmitters, etc.
- Support troubleshooting of instrumentation and electrical systems
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols, lockout/tagout procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Enforce compliance with applicable instrumentation codes and standards
- Minimize rework through strong quality control practices
Production Coordination
- Plan, schedule, and assign instrumentation work to meet project deadlines
- Coordinate closely with Production, Engineering, QC, and other trades to optimize workflow
- Monitor productivity and address bottlenecks or inefficiencies
Documentation & Reporting
- Ensure all documentation is completed per company standards (testing records, calibration reports, turnover packages)
- Provide regular updates in production meetings and maintain shift handover reporting
Safety Execution
- Lead toolbox talks, risk assessments, and hazard mitigation activities
- Conduct safety walks, inspections, and ensure compliance with company safety programs
Team Leadership & Mentorship
- Supervisor, mentor, and develop instrumentation technicians and appreciates
- Support hands on training in :
- Installation techniques
- Calibration and testing procedures
- Tubing fabrication and layout
- Promote a high performance, accountable team environment
Cross Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Engineering, Design, QC, Safety, and Operations teams
- Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, and inspectors
Continuous Improvement
- Drive continuous improvement in installation efficiency, quality, and workflow
- Support process optimization and best practice implementation across instrumentation scope
